PEOPLE Magazine Names Sheetz a Top “Company that Cares"

Sheetz ranks ninth on prominent list; highest ranking ever in company history

Today Sheetz, a major Mid-Atlantic restaurant and convenience chain, is pleased to announce Great Place to Work and PEOPLE Magazine have named the company to this year’s "Companies that Care" list. The annual list, now in its eighth year, highlights the top companies in the U.S. that have succeeded in business while also demonstrating outstanding respect, care and concern for their employees and their communities. Sheetz ranks ninth on this year's list, the highest ranking the company has ever received on this prominent list.

This is the third year in a row, and fourth time in five years, that Sheetz has been ranked on this prestigious list. In all inclusions, Sheetz has been the only convenience store chain to be ranked on this national list.

“Giving back and helping those we serve is at the forefront of everything we do. That is why being included on this list is not something we are taking for granted,” said Travis Sheetz, President & CEO of Sheetz. “We are truly honored to be ranked ninth on this list, standing alongside some of the leading companies in the country that prioritize the well-being of their communities.”

(Planit to insert percent when list goes live) percent of employees surveyed at Sheetz said it is a great place to work compared to 57 percent of employees at a typical U.S.-based company. Additionally, (Planit to insert percent when list goes live) of Sheetz employees feel good about the ways the company contributes to the community.

To support the local communities it serves, Sheetz works with several charitable organizations including the Special Olympics, which Sheetz has supported for over 30 years through financial contributions, product donations and event volunteers. Sheetz also fights hunger through weekly food donations to local food banks and works with Sheetz For the Kidz®, an employee-driven non-profit organization which has helped more than 170,000 children in need, living in the communities Sheetz serves, celebrate the holidays.

Planit to insert quotes from Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work & PEOPLE editor-in-chief Wendy Naugle when list goes live.

This year’s Companies that Care rankings are based on over 1.3 million employee survey responses and data from companies representing more 7.5 million employees. Of those surveys, 1.1 million came from employees at companies eligible for this year’s list and these rankings are based on that feedback.

The Companies That Care list is highly competitive. Survey responses reflect a comprehensive picture of the workplace experience. Honorees were selected based on their ability to offer positive outcomes for employees regardless of job role, race, gender, sexual orientation, work status, or other demographic identifier.
